Independent Film Being Shot in Dedham Square

A Christmas-themed independent film is being shot in Dedham Square this week.

An independent movie is being filmed in Dedham Square this week.

“Pretend”, a film by director Jim Ohm was being shot right inside the Paradise Café in Dedham Square on Monday.

This film is a contemporary story set days before Christmas about an affluent family man who lost his job and is going broke, but pretends he isn't, according to the movie’s Facebook Page.

Ohm told the Boston Globe that he chose Paradise Café and Dedham Square because it has a nice downtown feel and is a  nice combination of old and new.

“..the sidewalks are nice and wide, and the storefronts have the same old charm to them,” he told the Globe.

The film will be shot in 10 locations in Dedham, Waltham and Lynnfield. 

Despite being filled with dozens of movie extras and props,  Paradise Café will remain open during the filming.
