Woman Charged in Hair Straightener Assault

A Dorchester woman allegedly hit a man with her hair straightener and kicked him.

Police charged a Dorchester woman with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon Monday.

According to police reports, 22-year-old Lanigah Carol Brigdes hit a man inside a Harding Terrace home with her hair straightener and then kicked him because he didn't defend her when she was called a derogatory name.

Officers stated that she "freely" admitted to both assualt incidents.

Thursday, Feb. 16

  • At 8:23 a.m., a school bus driver called police after a parent stood in front of the bus, preventing it from leaving, as their child finished getting ready for school. The bus driver reported they have had multiple incidents with the parent.
  • At 12 p.m., police received a report of a housebreak on Schiller Road. The suspect fled in a newer model Crown Victoria with tinted windows.
  • At 7:54 p.m., police were notified that an iPhone was stolen out of a parked car on Washington Street.
  • At 9:54 p.m., a Sprague Street resident reported a housebreak.

  • At 9:57 a.m., a car struck a tree on Sprague Street, and one person was transported to a local hospital.
  • At 4:32 p.m., police fielded a report of a stolen license plate from President's Way.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

  • At 2:57 p.m., police received a report of several kids loitering near the Dedham High School football field. They were gone by the time police arrived.
  • At 3:10 p.m., police responded to Oakdale Avenue for a report of a male with his pants unbuttoned and unzipped. Dispatchers reported that the male was not exposing himself. He was gone by the time police arrived.
  • At 5:56 p.m., police responded to Bed, Bath and Beyond for a report of an "out-of-control" shoplifter. No arrest was made.
  • At 9:08 p.m., a one-car accident on Pine Street sent one person to a local hospital.

Monday, Feb. 13

  • At 7:22 p.m., police responded to Station Circle for a report of a stolen camera. Police didn't make an arrest, but have a suspect.
