That is really cool. I am not much of a runner, but hearing these stories kind of makes the experience concrete for me. I never really know whether cheering for athletes does anything, so that's cool. Thanks for sharing.

Frankly, it's a little unfair to accuse me of double-speak. I am still learning the schools and the town, so I have more or less only got the information presented at this meeting and in the Patch archives. I am not attempting to conceal anything, because I am genuinely not aware of anything that requires concealing--many of these issues are new to me.

As far as I understand it, this was not a public event. I was not informed of the interview until after the fact, either. We do try to run previews for events when possible, but for a lot of things, the real meat of the story is at the event itself.
Should there be events you would like to see more coverage of, you are welcome to post them on the Events page or Announcements page. http://wellesley.patch.com/events and http://wellesley.patch.com/search/announcements respectively. These put things more on my radar. An e-mail with a link also helps me consider it for the front page. As I am running both the Wellesley and the Needham sites, I rely heavily on tips from readers.

On the article Outcome of August Hit-and-Run in Wellesley Angers Cycling Community

Given the tone of your comment, I feel like you have not been keeping up to date with the story. One of the charges brought against the driver was failing to yield to the cyclist.
If I am reading your suggestion correctly, you're saying basically that cars are under no obligation to make sure they don't kill or injure cyclists. Which, if you read the Globe story referenced above, is precisely what the cycling community says is the problem.
Consider this an unofficial caution: a man died. A family now has no father. I understand the conflict between cyclists and drivers is frustrating, but show some respect.
