  Dedham Police Department Awarded Grant to Enhance Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety In an effort to make Dedham a safer place for our pedestrians and bicyclists, the Dedham Police Department will use a $3,000 grant provided by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security(EOPSS).   The funding is from $192,000 provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) specifically to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety.  Dedham is one of 48 police departments to receive this grant. *** High-Speed Chase Results in Drug Bust of Norwood Man A high-speed car chase in Stoughton this past weekend resulted in a drug bust and the arrests of a Norwood man and a Stoughton woman, according to a post on the Stoughton Police …

  Major Motion Picture Will be Filming in Dedham This Summer The Dedham Board of Selectmen had a discussion with Charlie Harrington and Jeremy Fiske, part of the film crew who will working on "The Judge," starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall.   The selectmen wanted to discuss the road closures and how Dedham Police will help with traffic.   Man Charged with OUI After Nearly Hitting a Cruiser on Route 128 On Sunday around 9:25 p.m., State Police charged Keith Thomas, 28, of Dedham for an OUI along with several other charges. According to police reports, Thomas nearly struck a cruiser and a disabled motorist on Route 128 by five feet.   While another cruiser attended the disabled motorist, Trooper Barry began to follow the SUV and observed it exit off of the highway at Exit 15B and was able to pull over the vehicle. *** Walpole Man Faces 19 Charges Following B&E Sean Hanlon, 22, of 12 Pall Mall was arrested for breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, forgery of a check and possession of a class A substance.   Local Restaurant Sending Get Well Banners to Joe Sharkey The Lunch Box Deli, 859 Boston Providence Hwy. in Norwood, is inviting the community to write warm wishes and send their prayers for the recovery of Norwood resident Joseph Sharkey. Sharkey is a student at Brown University and is currently in the hospital recovering from a head injury.  On May 13  Sharkey was speaking with a group of people when suddenly a man walked up to him and punched him in the head, causing severe injuries.   MBTA Once Again Looking Into Possibility of Billboards at Rt. 128 Garage The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority will soon be studying the possibility of placing two billboards at the Route 128 MBTA garage in Westwood near the Westwood/Dedham line. “No final plan has been developed but we do plan to offer a proposal in the near future,” said MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo. “Under their contract with the MBTA, Clear Channel has the right to that location (subject to T approval of the plan).   Dedham and Westwood Firemen Honored for Saving Teen from Swamp Thursday night the Dedham Board of Selectmen and Liberty Mutual honored the firefighters who rescued a 17-year-old from a swamp by East Street in Dedham. On March 1, Dedham and Westwood firefighters responded to a teen that was stuck in muddy waters. The effort took over an hour in freezing temperatures, according to officials.   Dedham Officials Review Rustcraft Road Property for Potential Municipal Use Officials in Dedham walked through a massive 190,000-square-foot building on Rustcraft Road Wednesday to evaluate whether the property would be a good fit for several municipal offices in town. The property, at 150 Rustcraft Road in Dedham, is owned by the Davis Companies which bought the site in February at auction.
