Here is an update on what is happening with the project since it shut down for the winter.
Since March 18, NSTAR Gas has been working on a gas main replacement project in Dedham Square. But this is not a part of the Dedham Square Improvement Project. NSTAR has agreed to work with FED Corp. and pay for all of the sidewalk restoration and overlaying the roadway. According to NSTAR gas, they are hoping to complete their work within 10 weeks. NSTAR will be working during the day, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. "It is necessary to perform this work during the day due to the sensitivity and safety aspects of working on gas utilities," Dedham Square contractors said. "A majority of the gas mains are located near the edge of the roadway and temporary parking restrictions within NSTAR’s work area should be anticipated." According to the Dedham …

Here's this week's Dedham Square Project update.
According to the contractors, there will be work done on Veteran's Day. One of the projects they are hoping to finish this week is the "earthwork" on the northerly end of the Keystone Parking Lot. The contractors will also be installing bricks for the brick banding within the sidewalks. On-street parking will be closed within those areas, but will resume after 5 p.m. "Night work" will take place Thursday night, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. During that time, contractors will be working on a temporary roadway and parking lot striping. "The existing crosswalk markings will be blacked out and the new crosswalk locations will be temporarily striped for the winter," the contractors write. Here's this week's update on the Dedham Square Project.
According to contractors, the installation of brick banding on the corner of Eastern Avenue and High Street will continue this week. They will also be adding bricks within the sidewalks in the area. For that reason, on-street parking will be closed during work hours and will reopen at the end of the work day. The reconstruction of High Street, from Court Street to Church Street, is scheduled to begin this week, according to contractors. Parking will not be permitted within the area at night. For that reason, the contractors would like residents to know that "all vehicles must be moved from the work area by 9 p.m. Any vehicle not moved will be towed at the owner's expense." Here's this week's Dedham Square Project update.
According to contractors, the reconstruction of the sidewalk on the southeastern corner side of the Eastern Avenue, at the High Street intersection will continue this week. The sidewalk will be closed for one week. The contractors will also be working on the reconstruction of High Street, from Court Street to Old River Place. The roadways will be closed and detours will be provided in order to navigate around the work area. But on-street parking will not be allowed at night within the work area. In fact, the contractors are warning residents to remove their vehicles by 9 p.m. Otherwise, any vehicle not moved will be towed "at the owner's expense."

According to the contractors, two projects will begin this week. The first will be the reconstruction of the sidewalk on the easterly side of Washington Street, from High Street to Harris Street. The sidewalk will be closed for up to three weeks and 12 on-street parking spaces will be unavailable. The second project will be the reconstruction of the sidewalk of the southerly side of High Street, from Eastern Avenue to the Route 1 overpass. The sidewalk will be closed for up to one week. Contractors will also start reconstructing this week on the southerly side of High Street, from Eastern Avenue to the Route 1 overpass. The sidewalk will be closed for up to three weeks and 10 on-street parking spaces will be unavailable during construction. The sidewalk will be closed for up to three weeks, and eight on-street parking spots will be unavailable. The reconstruction of the Keystone Parking Lot wall is scheduled to continue this week. Are the improvements already made by FED Corp going to be ripped up by the NSTAR gas company?
