Dedham Obituary: Audrey N. Ferris

Ms. Ferris was a graduate of Dedham High School.

Audrey N. (Moore) Ferris, 77, of Medway, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Medway Country Manor. She was the wife of Michael A. "Bing" Ferris Jr. who died in 2008. Born in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston on October 7, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Evelyn (Grant) Moore. Mrs. Ferris was a resident of Meredith, NH for many years and formerly resided in Medway and Dedham. She graduated from Dedham High School and worked as a nurse's aide at Medfield State Hospital for 10 years during the 1970's and 1980's. Mrs. Ferris adored her grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them. Mr. Pinkham was a resident of Dedham and served in the United States Army.

Harlan Robert Pinkham, of Dedham, died on April 2, 2013 at home, with his family, after a battle with brain cancer. He was 79.  He was born on February 19, 1934 in Framingham, the son of Thomas A. Pinkham, Jr. and Elizabeth R. (Moon) Pinkham. He grew up in West Roxbury and attended Boston Latin School and Roslindale High School. He graduated from Boston University and served in the United States Army before joining The Hyde Park Savings Bank (now Blue Hills Bank) where he served his whole career for over 40 years. He served as the bank’s president for seven years and its chairman and chief executive officer for 18 years before retiring in 1999. John F. Aboltin of Dedham, died March 30, 2013. He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of Gillette Safety Razor Company of South Boston and Volkswagon of America. Beloved husband of the late Catherine L. (Lyons), he was the devoted father of Catherine L. Aboltin of Dedham and the late John P. Aboltin and his wife Laurel of East Sandwich. Also survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly, Courtney, Paul, and Andrew Aboltin and his wife Nicole; great-grandfather of Genieva Aboltin. Funeral from the George F. Mr. Wrenn was a WWII veteran and was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Dedham.

Robert Duffield Wrenn, a life-long resident of Dedham and Needham, died on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at the age of 86 years old.  Robert was born in Boston, the son of George Lawson and Mary Trotter Goodman Wrenn.  He graduated from the Groton School in Groton, Massachusetts (class of 1944), Harvard College (class of 1948) and the Harvard Business School (class of 1960).  He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during World War II.  Robert worked as a financial analyst in Boston and retired in 1997. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Dedham, serving on the vestry and volunteered his time at the Dedham Community House, the Dedham Historical Society and the United Fund.  He is survived by his …

Francis E. Tobin Dies at 85; Resident of Dedham

Mr. Tobin was a resident of Dedham.

Francis Edward Tobin age 85 passed away at his home in Dedham surrounded by his family on March 26, 2013 after a battle with lung cancer. Frank was born on August 22, 1927 in Dorchester. He is predeceased by his parents James J. Tobin and Annie (Connolly) Tobin, his brothers Thomas Tobin, John Tobin and sister Virginia Crockford. Frank was also predeceased by his wife Marianne (Ryan) Tobin and son Joseph Tobin of Dedham. On his way into Boston one day, he and a friend were given a ride by a gentleman who happened to be a Jockeys agent. He talked about the race track and told the boys to look him up at the track. Frank followed through and the man introduced him to R.W. Collins who put him to work exercising horses. He was 15. A short while…

Mr. Angelo was born in Dedham.

James Jim Anthony Angelo, of Millis, died Saturday evening, March 23, 2013, at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Boston after a lengthy illness. He was 86. Born in Dedham, the son of Antonio and Teresa (Vaccaro) Angelo, he was raised and educated in Dedham and attended Boston Trade School. Mr. Angelo had been a Master Pipefitter and member of the Teamsters Local 25 in Chelsea. A Navy veteran, he served in both WWII and the Korean War. During WWII he was a Shipfitter 3rd Class serving Stateside and aboard the USS Mayo and in Military Administration in Okinawa, Japan, receiving the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal with one star. Lewis Benjamin Pierce Jr. died peacefully in his sleep March 15, 2013 at Traditions of Dedham (Massachusetts), aged 90. He was born Jan. 5, 1923 in Winthrop, Mass. to Lewis and Ilene (Peaslee) Pierce. He was the first baby born at Winthrop Hospital. Lew graduated from Winthrop High School (1940), then from Bentley School of Accounting (1942). He went to work for Haskins & Sells in Boston, Massachusetts. He served (Feb. 1943 - Dec. 1945) in the U.S. Army in World War II. During the war he married Arline Ruth McLeod of Boston. Following the war they lived in Winthrop and Lewis returned to work as an accountant for Haskins & Sells, traveling to do audits. Dorothy E. (Woodlock) Howe, of Dedham, Mass. died March 10, 2013 following a period of declining health. A native of Greenfield, Mass., she was born in 1924, one of four children of Frank and Jeanette (O'Brien) Woodlock. She was educated in Greenfield Public Schools and graduated from Nasson College of Springvale, ME in the Class of 1942. Following college, Dorothy was employed as a home economics teacher in Troy, NH where she met her husband, J. Reginald Howe. Together, they raised four children in Keene, NH and moved to Port Orange, FL to enjoy retirement. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband and two sisters, Jeanette Wheeler and Carole Murphy.
