Many are owed gratitude for helping local children receive gifts this holiday season.
Editor's note: This letter was submitted by organizers of Rocking the Stocking. We are writing with our most heartfelt thanks to all of the Dedham residents and businesses that contributed to the 2011 Rocking the Stocking & Toys for Tots drive to benefit the Dedham Youth Commission. We continue to be amazed by the generosity we see each and every year. The event would not have been possible without sponsorship from selectman Michael Butler, and help from Ali Koushan at Paradise Cafe, Meghan Stamm at Discovery Toys and Josh Rossmeisl at Kings. Special thanks also go Tracy White, Bobby Zahka (and Lily our little helper) and the congregation at St. John’s, Adrienne Albani and the congregation at the Allin Church, and Chris Carney for their …

Do you have a different place in mind? Let us know!
Each week, Dedham Patch highlights editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more in our feature called Patch Picks. To help, a number of local non-profit groups do all they can to help those in need all year round. The winter, though, can be increasingly difficult as temperatures decrease. But there are things residents can do to lend hand. Where will you volunteer this winter? Tell us in the comments.

We are writing with our most heartfelt thanks to all of the Dedham residents and businesses that contributed to the 2010 Toys for Tots drive to benefit the Dedham Youth Commission/Dedham Housing Authority, the Italian Home for Children and Childrens Hospital Boston. The need was great this year, but so was the response! The event would not have been possible without in-kind donations or sponsorship from selectmen Carmen Dello Iacono and Mike Butler, Chuck Dello Iacono and the Chuck Wagon and Bob Stanley. Special thanks also go to American Legion Post #18, state Rep. Paul McMurtry, the Dedham Recreation Department and Tracy White, Bobby Zahka (and Lily our little helper) for their support. We are so grateful to these friends for their …
