Letter to the Editor: Man Thanks Dedham Resident for Going Beyond to Find Owner of Lost Wallet

I wanted to let people out in Dedham know that there are still good young people in this world.

  Dear Editor, My daughter lost her wallet on a Peter Pan bus when she went to visit friends at UMass Amherst a few weeks ago. The wallet had cash, credit cards, her student ID, driver's license, and keys to her car and dorm. We canceled her credit and debit cards, called Peter Pan, and pretty much gave up hope. She had lost her wallet in Israel, and we never saw it, or its contents, again. Imagine our surprise when a young lady named Jessica Louissaint of Dedham created an account on Twitter to find my daughter. This led to my wife and I driving to Dedham. Jessica returned the wallet--with $130 cash and everything intact. What a wonderful young lady! We gave her a reward, but I wanted to let people out in Dedham know that there are still …

Letter to the Editor: The Home for Little Wanderers Thanks Dedham Community

  Dear Editor, The Home for Little Wanderers would like to thank everyone in the Dedham community who welcomed us and made our annual Big Wishes Gift Drive a success. The support of the community enabled us to collect nearly 15,000 toys, as well as other gifts, which we distributed among the children and families who receive our services and other local charities who were in need of additional help this holiday season. The 2012 holiday campaign would not have been possible this year without the generous support of Legacy Place in Dedham which donated space for our Toy Room after we sold our landmark Jamaica Plain facility which had housed many generations of the Gift Drive. Dear Editor: On behalf of the Dedham Police Department, I would like to sincerely thank all the individuals, organizations and businesses who coordinated and participated in Dedham’s “National Night Out 2012” celebration.  This is the second year that this national public safety campaign has been recognized and celebrated in Dedham.   Four days of events were organized from August 4 - August 7, 2012.
