After the large amounts of snow dumped on Dedham, I asked a couple residents the style of shovel they like best? You might be thinking, isn't a shovel a shovel? Well, no. There are shovels that resemble plows, shovels that take the strain off your back, wide-bottom shovels and just regular, ordinary shovels. Danny Holt, a Dedham Strength and Fitness employee, likes the really wide-bottom shovels, "I feel like you can get more done with the shovel being bigger, and able to pick up more snow.” Rick Lovell, a Dedham resident, said, "I really don't have a preference; I rather just not shovel snow.” What type of shovel served you best in today's storm? The Dedham School District will hold an informational presentation on bullying prevention tonight at 7 p.m. at the Dedham Middle School. Andrew Zitoli, principal of Millis Middle School and Dr. Peter Sanchioni, superintendent of Natick Schools will explain how parents, teachers and students can act to prevent bullying - in person and on the Internet. They will cover what signs to look for, effects of bullying, and preventive measures to help ensure a safe learning environment for your children. DCD Open House Dedham Country Day School will hold its annual fall open house tonight from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Families will learn about DCD from current students who will give tours of the campus. Mid-afternoon today, with the hot sun beaming, summer help employees of Dedham Park and Recreation (DPR) could be observed working hard to keep Dedham clean. The grassy hills at the corner of High Street and Harris Street were being tended to by way of mowing, weed whacking and trash pickup. Former Dedham High School students Paul Walch, Matt Pitt, and Ryan Macdonald were a few of the hard workers. When asked why he wanted to, and was working for DPR, Macdonald responded, "It's my way of giving back to my community." It is great to see that those who make up Dedham are taking care of Dedham.
