Blizzard 2013: Cleaning Up Dedham After the Storm

It's been a struggle for the town to remove the snow because there's no place to put it.

  According to The National Weather Service, the Blizzard of 2013 left Dedham with 22 inches of snow. And the town is unsure about the time frame for cleanup. "It's difficult to predict at this time," Town Administrator Bill Keegan said.  "Our crews are trying to remove a lot if snow now because there is no place to put it." Residents were expressing their frustrations on Facebook and Twitter because there are still some hazardous driving conditions like Washington Street, near Dedham Square. "Folks will have to be patient as everyone does the best they can," he said. In the meantime, plow trucks are still circling the town to clear as much of the snow as possible.  But how to dispose of the snow will remain to be the big issue. Some are …

They dump the snow in the parking lot at the baseball fields not directly on the fields. Of course you can't dump snow from the streets on a ball field. This year they are utilizing the lot not used for homes that was purchased from St. Mary's which actually showed some sense. I was impressed that the town actually thought to do that.   more ›
