Pet of the Week: Highway

This is Highway. He is about 2-years-old and is a Shepherd mix.  He is very playful and can be jumpy. He used to live outside and when he first came to us he had mange and didn't trust people. He now loves to play tug and go on Long walks with his people. He has turned into a very affectionate and loving boy which is completely opposite from the terrified and antisocial sick dog he used to be. He does like other dogs but is barrier aggressive. He plays well in play group and enjoys chase with the other dogs of similar personality. He does have prey drive though which we Attribute to him having lived outside as a stray and probably had to hunt. So no cats. Also he can be a little spooked at times so a firm hand is needed on his leash at …

Pet of the Week: Meet Sassa

Sassafrass is a 2-year-old cutie pie who is looking for her new home. She was originally found as a stray and transferred to the Animal Rescue League by an Animal Control Facility. We believe her to be a pit bull mix, but your guess is as good as ours! Sassy (as we affectionately call her) is a joy to be around. She is quite affectionate! No known aggression or guarding issues that we have seen here. She is a favorite for the volunteers to take overnight and they have reported that she is very well behaved in the home setting after she becomes familiar. She has a moderate energy level, and is highly trainable. Sassy knows all her commands! Sit, down, stay, paw. Works well for treats. She loves playing with other dogs, and seems to get …

Pet of the Week: Diamond

Diamond is a large American Staffordshire terrier. She is incredibly sweet and knows basic obedience commands. Because Diamond is a large dog who can sometimes become jumpy when she is excited, we recommend that she goes to a home with no children or only children over the age of 13. Diamond is selective about which dogs she gets along with, so we also recommend that she goes to a home with no other dogs. Diamond is spayed and she has been vaccinated and given a clean bill of health by a veterinarian. Her adoption fee is $205.00. If you are interested in Diamond or have any questions, you can visit her at our Dedham shelter or give them a call at (781) 326-0729.

Pet of the Week: Meet Mr. Jingles

If you think that your family is the right fit for Mr. Jingles please come visit him at The Animal Rescue League of Boston, 55 Anna’s Pl, in Dedham.

Mr. Jingles is a 3-year-old Pomeranian and weighs about 13lbs. He looks bigger, but the rest of him is all fluff! He was at the Boston Animal Control shelter as a stray and then brought to the Animal Rescue Leauge of Boston to find a new home. He was found as a stray along with a cat in a carrier so there is a chance that he lived with cats before. Mr. Jingles requires a patient owner and a family with no children. He really enjoys his toys & relaxing on his bed, but since he likes them so much he will protect his possessions from you. He needs a person that understands a dog should be left alone when eating & sleeping. Mr. Jingles has been out in our dog playgroup so we know that he does well with dogs of similar size and dogs that don'…

Pet Of The Week: Dinah

Brilliant and beautiful, that’s our Dinah.  One of our long-time favorites at the farm, Dinah is waiting for just the right owner to come along.  She is an extremely loving and loyal dog who wants someone who can calmly, clearly and patiently train her. Energetic and smart, she will challenge you at every turn.   This girl needs a good dose of hard exercise every day, some activities to stimulate her sharp mind and then lots of loving.   Dinah can be shy and sometimes fearful of strangers, both human and canine, but once she knows you she lets her sweet and funny personality shine. She is microchipped, spayed and up to date on all her shots.  Dinah will bring an experienced and dedicated owner a lifetime of laughs and love, well worth the …

Pet Of The Week: Josh

Meet one of the newest guests at Shultz's Guest House, Josh!  Josh is a sweet and playful 6 month old boy.  He is neutered and walks beautifully on a leash. Josh was rescued from Puerto Rico.  He was one of seven puppies born under a trailer located in a gas station in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. When the pups started to walk, their mother took them to a safe, visible place where they were rescued.   Josh is a playful and humble pup who came to the U.S. with all of his vaccines, rabies shot, bordatella, a negative heartworm test and perfect skin. Although he only recently checked in at the guest house, we are all already in love!   Located on 200 acres in Dedham, Massachusetts, Shultz’s Guest House provides its dogs with large runs, indoor-…

Pet Of The Week: Dolly

Hello Dolly!  Getting ready for her Broadway debut, Dolly is a 2 year old walker hound from North Carolina.   She is a happy, fun-loving girl who enjoys people, dogs and, apparently, eating!  We’ve already gotten her out on the trails to work off some of that extra weight. Dolly has a great sense of humor and has already been up to some silly antics here at the farm including trying to jump a fence into the big yard.   She was a family pet who kept escaping, which is why they couldn’t keep her.  Since she is an escape artist, a strong fenced-in yard and a good hand on a leash are what will keep this girl back where she belongs! Dolly is house-trained, spayed and up to date on all her shots.     Located on 200 acres in Dedham, Massachusetts…

Chester is a very happy, playful and energetic dog who is full of love.  He's an affectionate guy who would be a good apartment dweller, as long as he gets his daily exercise.  He is a true turn key dog. Chester originally hails from California and lived in foster care for over a year.  He is neutered and up to date on all his shots.   Call quick, this little spunkmeister won’t last long!   Shultz’s Guest House is a non-profit farm-based rescue group whose sole purpose is to find permanent, loving homes for dogs that have come into unfortunate situations. …

Pet of the Week: Blue

Our new boy Blue, he’ll grow on you!

This australian cattle dog/border collie mix will make you laugh and smile!  Blue is one year old and weighs 32 pounds and is full of energy and life.  Completely housebroken and good at his basic commands, this pup loves to play with other dogs.  He lived in a foster home with cats, he ignored the quiet ones and chased the lively ones, but backed off when they stopped.  He’s quiet and snuggly when he’s had a good day of exercise and play.  Blue is still learning his manners, so he would do best in a home without young children.  He is neutered and up to date on all his shots.  He’d make a great running companion and agility dog.  Put on your sneakers and come take a romp with this great dog!   Shultz’s Guest House is a non-profit farm-…
