You will be watching the big game between our New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens, as the teams battle on the gridiron to determine who will go to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Whether you are going to a big party or watching the game alone in a secret room so nobody can see your emotional reaction to every play, you need snack foods. You'll have to find the chips on your own, but here is recipe for a chili-cheese dip to go along with those chips. This recipe comes from Judy Putnam , editor of the Peachtree Corners Patch in Georgia. Enjoy the snacks, and Go Pats! Ingredients Directions Layer the ingredients in the…

Tickets to the Jan. 13 AFC Divisional Playoff game in Foxborough go on sale to the general public on Monday, Jan. 7.
Hosting playoff games in Foxborough used to be rarity for the New England Patriots and its fans prior to the Robert Kraft era. In fact, the Patriots hosted just one playoff game in the first 34 years of the franchise's history - a loss to the Houston Oilers in 1978 - prior to Kraft buying the team in 1994. Since then, the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs 14 times, including 12 times as AFC East division champions. With a 12-4 regular season record in 2012, the Patriots claimed their fourth consecutive division title and enter this year’s playoffs as the second seed in the AFC. It is the fourth time in franchise history that the team has earned the second seed. What's better is that in three of those seasons the Patriots advanced …

Editor's Note: The following is part of a special "end-of-the-year" series in which local editors from your nearby Patch towns highlight their favorites in various topics. Jonathan Friedman - Editor, Attleboro-Seekonk Patch From my earliest days through college, I was a competitive swimmer. I was never good enough to be an Olympian, but I have a tremendous respect for those who are. And every four years, it is exciting to see swimming in the spotlight. Special kudos go to Michael Phelps, who looked like he had lost his magic when he didn't even win a medal in his first individual event, the 400 IM (first time since 2000 that had happened), but then regained it later in the week with spectacular wins in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, while…

The New England Patriots will wear black-ribbon logos on their helmets and hold a moment of silence before Sunday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers in Foxborough.
Foxborough will be center stage of the National Football League world for the second time in six days Sunday night when the New England Patriots host the San Francisco 49ers in primetime on NBC's Sunday Night Football. But even a game with so much significance on playoff positioning will simply be less important in the wake of Friday's tragedy in Newtown, Conn. The New England Patriots, along with the rest of the country, will have the 26 victims of Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on their minds and in their hearts during Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium.
