Needham Bank’s 4th Annual Local Love Campaign a Great Success

Program benefits six local service organizations, including Dedham Youth Commission.

  Needham Bank, with branches throughout the Greater Boston area proudly announces that its 4th Annual Local Love campaign was a great success, with gift requests fulfilled for distribution to children served by The Dedham Youth Commission. During the month of December, customers and non-customers alike visited the Bank’s five branches in Needham, Dedham, Wellesley, Westwood and Medfield and selected paper angels bearing the gender, age and requested holiday gift of a local child or teen who otherwise would not receive a present during the holidays.  The angels decorated holiday trees located within the branches’ lobbies.  In total, more than 500 children and families were benefitted by the 4th annual campaign. Duck Race On The Charles For Charity

10th Annual NVSR Duck Race on the Charles at Riverdale Park on Saturday, June 16.

  The Neponset Valley Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting the 10th Annual Duck Race the Charles at Riverdale Park on Saturday, June 16, rain or shine. This free event features the race, music from the Dedham Public Schools fifth grade band moonwalks, pony rides, face painting, magician, dance contests, live DJ, prizes, clowns and refreshments for the whole family. Duck racers adopt plastic ducks for $5 each or four ducks for $20 and the fifth duck is free. Ducks are assigned a specific number that corresponds with their adopter’s number. The ducks are simultaneously dumped into the river from the Bridge Street Bridge near the Irish Ale House. The first duck to cross the finish line wins $1,000. Dedham Skating Night Postponed

Rain has forced organizers to move the free outdoor event to Feb. 4.

An ice skating event scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to rain, Dedham Parks and Recreation director Bob Stanley said Friday. The free event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4 from 4-6 p.m. For the third consecutive year, folks are invited to hit the ice (bring your own skates) at both Memorial Park and Condon Park. Construction supplies, hot chocolate and doughnuts will be supplied by Needham Bank, the even't sponsor. Dedham Resident Named COO of Needham Bank

Mark Whalen will serve as the bank's chief operating officer.

Dedham resident Mark Whalen recently received a promotion to chief operating officer of Needham Bank, the business announced Tuesday. Whalen has nearly 30 years of experience in the banking industry and is the former president/CEO of the Dedham Cooperative Bank. He joined Needham Bank in March of 2007 when the two institutions merged, according to a statement from Needham Bank. Before the promotion, Whalen worked as the bank's executive vice president, the bank stated.
