Car Hits Construction Truck Off of Route 128

The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a car crash on Route 128 this morning.

  The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a crash on Route 128 northbound in Dedham Friday morning after a car hit a construction truck before going down an embankment.  The driver was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston with non-life-threatening injuries. The state police are looking into the possibility of a medical issue, being the cause of the crash.  Their preliminary reports are indicating a 57-year-old man from Bridgewater keft the highway, around Exit 15, and continued to drive on an uppaved construction access road before hitting the truck.

State Police to Hold Sobriety Checkpoint in Norfolk County This Upcoming Weekend

Massachusetts State Police will run extra safety checks on vehicles in the area on Friday, April 5 into Saturday, April 6.

If you spot a Massachusetts state trooper camped out by the side of the road somewhere in Norfolk County this weekend, he or she may be doing more than just watching for speedsters. Colonel Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced a sobriety checkpoint will be established on an undisclosed public way in Norfolk County from Friday, April 5 into Saturday, April 6. Alben said the purpose of the checkpoint is to further educate motorists and strengthen public awareness to the need of both detecting drivers who are operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and taking them off the road. State Troopers Recognized for Helping in NY, NJ After Hurricane Sandy

"There's nothing that I can compare to what I saw down there," said one of the 25 troopers that helped out after Sandy devastated nearby states.

Before Hurricane Sandy's full scope of devastation in New York and New Jersey was even known, 25 men and women from the Massachusetts State Police were on their way to assist those who had been displaced from their homes.  "When I reached out to ask if the state police would be willing to field a group of 25 people, I already knew the answer," Undersecretary for Homeland Security and Director of MEMA, Kurt Schwartz said in a press conference in Framingham Monday afternoon. A routine sobriety checkpoint for drivers in Norfolk County is slated for the holiday weekend.

Drivers in the Norfolk County area should take note that Massachusetts State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night into Sunday, Nov. 24 and 25, according to an announcement from Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police.  "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from the roadways," the statement reads. Truck Rollover Reported on Rte. 93, Ramp Closed 2-3 Hours

The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Massachusetts State Police units are on-scene of a tractor-trailer rollover on the ramp from Rte. 138 northbound to Rte. I-93 southbound in Canton, according to a statement from MSP on Thursday morning.  The ramp is expected to be closed for at last for two to three hours; drivers on Rte. I-95 should take note. The driver involved in the rollover has suffered injuries, the extent of which were uncertain Thursday morning, according to State Police. There is a small diesel fuel leak, as well. Canton Fire and EMS crews are also on scene. Dedham Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.

Dedham Man Pleads Not Guilty to Child Porn Charges

Raymond O'Hara was arrested Tuesday by Dedham and State police.

  Raymond O'Hara, 56 of 49 Beech St. in Dedham, pled not guilty Tuesday in Dedham District Court to charges of possession of child pronography and disseminating images of a child in a sex act. Dedham and State police execucted a search warrant Tuesday morning on O'Hara's home and found hundreds of pornographic images on his computer, according to court documents. O'Hara admitted to police that he'd used a peer-to-peer sharing network for months to download the images, according to court documents. O'Hara is being held on $2,500 cash bail and had not posted it as of Wednesday afternoon. If O'Hara posts bail, the court has ordered him not to have Internet access and to stay away from children, court documents state. His next court date is …

More Snow Coming to Dedham Saturday

Expect three-to-six inches of snowfall this weekend.

Following a small accumulation of snow overnight Thursday into Friday, the Natoinal Weather Service is expecting a more significant storm to make its way to New England during the day Saturday. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., and it is forecasted that during that time, snow will overspread Southern New England, including Dedham, with the majority of snowfall to take place from mid-morning to early afternoon. "Snow will accumulate quickly as the ground is already cold," the advisory stated. "Untreated surfaces will become slippery quickly." Two Morning Crashes Send Two to Hospital

One crash happened at an on-ramp to Rte. 128 southbound, the other on Rte. 128 northbound.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a rollover crash Thursday morning at the on-ramp from Rte. 135 onto Rte. 128 southbound on the Needham-Dedham border. Two people were injured in the single-car accident. A 69-year-old Mansfield man was behind the wheel and a 71-year-old Mansfield woman was in the passenger seat of the Ford F-350 truck. Both people were transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital of Needham with non-fatal injuries, according to police. MSP is investigating the cause of the crash, but a MSP spokesperson said icy and wet road conditions were at least partially to blame.
