Dedham Police Log: Shoplifting on Providence Highway, Break-in Attempt and More

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

  Monday, Jan. 28 (10:27 p.m.) According to police reports, a resident reported that his front tire was slashed at the corner of Oak and Curve Street. The owner reported that it wasn't driven for a few days, so it must have occurred between Jan. 24 and Jan. 28. Tuesday, Jan. 29 (3:11 p.m.) Dedham Police received a call that a shoplifter was being detained at a store on Providence Highway. Loss Prevention officers told police that they observed the suspect conceal ear bud headphones. He was placed under arrest. Friday, Feb. 1 (1:32 a.m.) Police were dispatched to Veterans Road for a suspicious person attempting to open a window, according to reports.  When police arrived, the caller informed them that she observed a young white male trying …

Dedham Police Log: Multiple Reports of Identity Theft, Larceny and More

  Tuesday, Jan. 22 (6:08 p.m.) According to police reports, a woman had her money stolen from a fitness gym on Providence Highway. She told police that she was working out for an hour and a half and then noticed that someone tampered her lock in the locker room. The cash in her wallet was the only item that was missing.  Wednesday, Jan. 23 (1:38 p.m.) Police responded to call of a woman that was bitten by a stray pit bull. Upon arrival, police discovered that she was not bitten by a dog. She was scared because she saw a loose dog heading in her direction.  Animal Control arrived on the scene and attempted to locate the dog and/or the owner. Thursday, Jan. 24 (5:14 p.m.) At 5:10 p.m. a woman entered the police station to report an identity …

  Dedham Police Log: Larceny, Pedestrian Struck at Dedham Plaza and More According to police reports, there was a report of a past larceny at a supermarket on Providence Highway. The employees informed police that the suspect fled northbound on Providence Highway, but the merchandise was recovered. According to the loss prevention employee, the suspect was a black female who selected a large quantity of items, walked passed the registers and tried to exit the store without paying for the items. A loss prevention employee started to follow the suspect into the parking lot and told her that she needed to return to the store with the items.
