Kitchen Fire Leads to Explosion, Family is Safe

It started as a small kitchen fire, and ended with an explosion.

Dedham Fire Department received a call at 3:45 p.m.  The family who resided at 84 Curve Street, reported a small kitchen fire on the second floor of the two-family home. But by the time fire trucks arrived at the scene, no one thought that this fire would lead to an explosion. "It was smart for the family to call ahead when they did....all were able to get out safely," Dedham Fire Chief, William Cullinane said.  "We were all surprised... we didn't think it was going to be this bad." According to Chief Cullinane, they are still investigating the exact cause of the flames.  However, they believe that this was done by accident. Kitchen Fire Leads to Explosion on Curve Street in Dedham

Crews were wetting down hotspots as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

No injuries were reported after a kitchen fire lead to an explosion on Curve Street in Dedham on Thursday afternoon, according to Dedham fire officials. Fire crews from Dedham and Westwood responded to the scene around 3:55 p.m. Thursday, according to reports. Crews were on scene wetting down hot spots as of 4:30 p.m.  Dedham Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.
