Dedham Police Log: Multiple Reports of Identity Theft, Larceny and More

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

  Tuesday, Jan. 22 (6:08 p.m.) According to police reports, a woman had her money stolen from a fitness gym on Providence Highway. She told police that she was working out for an hour and a half and then noticed that someone tampered her lock in the locker room. The cash in her wallet was the only item that was missing.  Wednesday, Jan. 23 (1:38 p.m.) Police responded to call of a woman that was bitten by a stray pit bull. Upon arrival, police discovered that she was not bitten by a dog. She was scared because she saw a loose dog heading in her direction.  Animal Control arrived on the scene and attempted to locate the dog and/or the owner. Thursday, Jan. 24 (5:14 p.m.) At 5:10 p.m. a woman entered the police station to report an identity …

Police Log: Providence Highway Hit-and-Run, Avery School Construction Vehicle Damaged

The following is an excerpt from the Dedham Police Department log from July 3-4. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. Providence Highway Hit and Run The driver of a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder was injured and the car suffered front-end damage Friday morning when a green car with taxi markings on it hit the Pathfinder on the rear passenger side. The green car sped off toward Boston, police said. The pathfinder jumped the curb near Ocean State Job Lot, blowing out the front passenger tire. Damaged Loader at Avery Site Construction crews at the new Avery Elementary School worksite reported Friday morning that someone smashed the emergency window of a front-end loader. Dedham Cops Arrest Trio in Alleged Identity Theft, Credit Fraud Scheme

Dedham Police arrested three people last week at Sears after they purchased nearly $1,000 on a Sears card opened with a fake driver's license.

Three people face charges related to a case of identity theft, credit card fraud and stolen property. Dedham Police arrested Eugene Anthony Morgan, 45 of Providence, R.I.; Dwight Croutear, 46 of Pawtucket, R.I.; and Louisa Wells, 43 of Dorchester, on Thursday at Sears. Police allege that Wells opened a store card at Sears and immediately purchased nearly $1,000 worth of electronics - an XBox game system, a handheld Playstation game system and a 32-inch television - then headed back into the store and went to the jewelry counter to try to purchase $1,200 worth of merchandise. A store employee told police that Wells used a Rhode Island driver's license to open the account, but he believed it to be fake after he saw "this is a facsimile" …
