Dedham Featured in AAA South New England Magazine

Dedham resident Vicky Kruckeberg, a AAA member, wrote an article about the town in AAA Southern New England Magazine.

Dedham is feature in AAA Southern New England Magazine January 2013 in an article by Vicky Kruckeberg, a AAA member. Kruckeberg writes about Dedham's downtown and historic homes, highlighting the Dedham Historical Society. She also writes about the Fairbanks House and the Dedham Community Theatre. Fairbanks Garden Club Gets Boost

Dedham Institution for Savings donates $1,000.

The Dedham Institution for Savings Foundation is contributing $1,000 to the Fairbanks Garden Club. These funds will be used to help defray the cost of marketing materials and speakers to reach out to members of the community to promote horticultural education, interest and knowledge in gardening and the environment.

Dedham Celebrates 109th Fairbanks House Reunion

The Fairbanks family opened up their reunion to the public on Sunday.

A Fairbanks Celebration of Dedham's Past

The Fairbanks Family of America held its annual reunion Sunday as Dedham celebrates 375 years.

Residents of Dedham, along with many others, congregated at the historic Fairbanks House Sunday to celebrate the 375th anniversary of settlement in the Town of Dedham. The event was made possible by The Fairbanks Family In America. This busy day began with an opening ceremony hosted by Chris Messier, including a special guest appearance from state Rep. Paul McMurtry and music from the Sudbury Fyfe & Drum Company. After the opening ceremony, organizer Peter Cook introduced crafters, who showcased their skills that harped back to the early 18th century. “This is my first time demonstrating at the Fairbanks House,” said Penny Lacroix, of Westford. Travel Back in Time: Fairbanks House

Travel Back in Time with Wednesday Patch Passport, to discover the history and roots of Dedham.

The Fairbanks House on East Street is a historic treasure of Dedham, dating back to the 17th century. "It’s the oldest timber frame house in North America circa 1637 to 1641," said Lee Anne Hodson, the business operations manager of the Fairbanks House. John Larson, a docent of the Fairbanks House, said that there had been some question to whether or not it was the oldest standing timber frame house, but after testing it was deemed to be so. Larson and his wife Jean are both docents to The Fairbanks House. Their job is to guide tours through the house, and to further the understanding of the historic and cultural aspects of the house to any interested. There are thirteen total docents at the Fairbanks House, and they are all volunteers. …
