Volleyball Coach Reflects About Her Experience at Dedham High

Entering her third season as the head coach of Dedham’s varsity volleyball squad, Stephanie Adams seems focused on making sure the school’s program continues to improve.

Over the past few seasons, Coach Stephanie Adams has been a critical component in helping increase the program’s numbers, as well as making sure her participants are in great shape. On Wednesday, Dedham Patch caught up with Coach Adams to discuss the upcoming season, as well as how she’s changed the culture of volleyball at the high school.  How many years have you been coaching at Dedham? “This will be my third year as the head coach. I did coach before at Cardinal Spellman and Whitman Hanson. Dedham Volleyball Drops Opener in Five-Set Match

Junior co-captain Jodie Munchbach was a highlight for the Marauders, leading several rallies.

The Dedham volleyball team may have finished just 2-16 last year, but they came out firing on all cylinders last night in their season opener against Sharon, winning the first two games before the Eagles were able to overcome the early deficit and win a five-set match (24-26, 14-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-13). “I think we were doing really well in the beginning,” Dedham junior captain Jodie Munchbach said. “Sometimes we just get in our heads that if we make little mistakes it’s the biggest deal and we just stop communicating, and when we stop communicating that’s really when it all goes downhill. Hopes Soar for Dedham Volleyball Team

Summer conditioning may prove to be turning point for the program.

For the first time in 34 years, the Dedham High School volleyball team will take to the court this fall without Marge Bohan as their head coach. In her final season last year, Bohan brought on Dedham Middle School teacher Stephanie Adams as co-head coach, and Adams officially took the reins last week on her own. “We look pretty good, even if our numbers are a little low,” Adams said. “I think we are going to have a pretty good season, better than we have in the past. “Our hitting looks really good, especially up at the net,” according to Adams. “The power they’ve been getting from our setters and the passing in the back row looks well.” Junior Jodi Munchbach, who in beginning her third year on the varsity, concurs. “We have a lot of great …
