The Dedham Library Innovation Team (DLIT), a non-profit dedicated to creating best-in-class libraries in Dedham, invites the public to a free showing of the 1983 Academy Award-winning film “The Right Stuff” as part of its “Dedham Reads Together 2013” program this spring. Dedham is feature in AAA Southern New England Magazine January 2013 in an article by Vicky Kruckeberg, a AAA member. Kruckeberg writes about Dedham's downtown and historic homes, highlighting the Dedham Historical Society. She also writes about the Fairbanks House and the Dedham Community Theatre. A look at the upcoming Hot Summer, Late Nights Movie Series at the DCT.
"Mark it zero!" A new late night, summer movie series is coming to the Dedham Community Theatre running every Friday throughout the month of August. These movie events kick off this Friday with Peter Jackson's gory, cult-horror classic, Dead Alive at 11:15 p.m. at the theatre on 580 High St. "[The theatre] had done this program nine years ago and I remember seeing films as a guest," explains Sarah Reynolds the DCT Director and coordinator of the series. "When I came on as general manager last fall it was one of my goals to re-instate this program because I think there is definitely a crowd for this program, maybe bring in some younger people to the theatre." The Dedham School of Music will hold a fund-raising show on Sunday.
Get ready to hear the great tunes from Dedham residents "whose talents and skills far exceed their current fame," as the event's motto reads. The Dedham School of Music will hold a fund-raising concert on Sunday afternoon from noon to 2 p.m. at the Dedham Community Theatre in Dedham Square. Tickets for Unsung Dedham are $10 for an individual and $20 for a family. Following up last year's success of The King's Speech, Dedham Community Theatre will continue to show two Oscar-nominated movies: The Artist and The Descendants.
