Town hosts 375th anniversary celebration while honoring the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Dedham knows how to party, even at 375 years old. The Dedham 375 Steering Committee celebrated the town's 375th birthday while honoring the memory of the Sept. 11 attacks with a celebration and barbeque at the Endicott Estate Saturday. Dedham 375 Committee co-chair Marie Louise Kehoe said at least 6,500 people attended the event. "It's a wonderful day," Kehoe said. "The turnout today shows people's appreciation for the town." Town Administrator William Keegan said at least 6,000 Dedham 375 buttons were sold prior to the event. The townwide ceremony featured complimentary food, live music, historic trolley tours, information booths and children's activities. Dedham 375 Birthday BBQ Celebration commenced with an opening ceremony honoring our servicemembers and remembering September 11.
Dedham honored servicemembers past and present while remembering the tragedy and heroes of September 11 at the opening ceremony for Dedham's 375th birthday celebration on Saturday. Following the ceremony, which featured remarks from Congressman Stephen Lynch among other town and government officials, a townwide barbecue and celebration was held on the grounds of the Endicott Estate providing food for the masses along with entertainment for all ages in the form of rides, games, activities and live music.

The Fairbanks family opened up their reunion to the public on Sunday.
The Fairbanks Family of America held its annual reunion Sunday as Dedham celebrates 375 years.
Residents of Dedham, along with many others, congregated at the historic Fairbanks House Sunday to celebrate the 375th anniversary of settlement in the Town of Dedham. The event was made possible by The Fairbanks Family In America. This busy day began with an opening ceremony hosted by Chris Messier, including a special guest appearance from state Rep. Paul McMurtry and music from the Sudbury Fyfe & Drum Company. After the opening ceremony, organizer Peter Cook introduced crafters, who showcased their skills that harped back to the early 18th century. “This is my first time demonstrating at the Fairbanks House,” said Penny Lacroix, of Westford. Hi Stan, They are still working on plans for the Friday, Sept. 23 game, which is the first home football game. They are going to have a ceremony to honor donors and other festivities, but I'm told that is still in the works.   more ›
