Well hello summer weather. The temperature is expected to hit 83 degrees today with the sun out and a slight breeze, according to the National Weather Service. Dedham's Economic Development Department will co-host a free workshop for small businesses today at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. The event will be facilitated by Chris Moynihan of Retail Visioning, a company that helps businesses with store design and retail marketing.  Elementary school bands from across Dedham will collaborate tonight for a concert at 7 p.m. at the Dedham High School auditorium.  The Design Review Advisory Committee will hear proposals for sign changes from Sovereign Bank, the Grumpy Cactus and 1-800-Mattress. Signing Board Recommends Historic Sign for Ames' House

The Design Review Advisory Board also approved a lighted sign for Super Petroleum, even though it is in a central business district.

The Dedham Design Review Advisory Board approved signage for several businesses Tuesday evening, including the historic Nathaniel Ames House on High Street. Donna Ostin, representing the owner of the historic building, asked for approval of new signage in front of the building. The board resisted any mention of individual businesses inside the building, but suggested a sign with the historic name on it would receive approval, said board member Paul Corey. If the sign came in under 2 feet by 2 feet, then building wouldn't need Zoning Board of Appeals to approve the change.
