Tuesday, Dec. 25 (8:12 a.m.) According to police reports, there was a verbal altercation between a white female and an employee of a store on Bussey Street The female was under the influence of alcohol. When the employee was on the phone with Dedham Dispatch, the female slapped the phone against the employee's face. The store did not want to press charges, but the female was trespassed from the store. Wednesday, Dec. 26 (9:56 a.m.) According to police reports, a vehicle was broken into. The white, 2010 Lexus was parked on Stergis Way when the rear passenger window was smashed. The owner's purse was the only item taken from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a hospital due to serious injuries.
There were reports of a car vs. truck accident on West St. near the Needham line around 2:57 p.m. According to the Dedham Fire Department, there were two trucks and a sedan involved. "The driver of the car hit one of the trucks and then bumped off the other," the Fire Deputy said. "She was then pinned between a tree and the truck." Fire personnel required a Jaws of Life in order the take the driver out of her car. The driver sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by the Needham Fire Department.

The 58-year-old man hit his head against the car's windshield.
A 58-year-old Dedham man suffered possible neck and back injuries when he crashed his car into a vacant storefront at 66 Milton St. Tuesday at around 8:30 a.m. The man, driving a black Scion xB, turned right from the Mother Brook Condominiums onto Milton Street, heading westbound, authorities said. According to authorities, the man, who has a physical disability, hit the gas instead of his brake, causing him to strike a pick-up truck heading eastbound on Milton Street. The man then sped about 150 feet into 66 Milton St, a vacant blue building. The car's airbag deployed, but the man's head hit the windshield, officials said. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

A Dorchester woman allegedly hit a man with her hair straightener and kicked him.
Police charged a Dorchester woman with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon Monday. According to police reports, 22-year-old Lanigah Carol Brigdes hit a man inside a Harding Terrace home with her hair straightener and then kicked him because he didn't defend her when she was called a derogatory name. One crash happened at an on-ramp to Rte. 128 southbound, the other on Rte. 128 northbound.
Massachusetts State Police are investigating a rollover crash Thursday morning at the on-ramp from Rte. 135 onto Rte. 128 southbound on the Needham-Dedham border. Two people were injured in the single-car accident. A 69-year-old Mansfield man was behind the wheel and a 71-year-old Mansfield woman was in the passenger seat of the Ford F-350 truck. Both people were transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital of Needham with non-fatal injuries, according to police. MSP is investigating the cause of the crash, but a MSP spokesperson said icy and wet road conditions were at least partially to blame. Dedham Police are investigating the Tuesday afternoon accident.
Dedham Police responded Tuesday afternoon to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car on the corner of Congress Place and Bussey Street. An officer at the scene said the person hit was not seriously injured and did not require hospitalization. Police say the supsected vehicle fled the scene before authorities arrived. Police will investigate and try to track down the driver of the car.

An international study looked at car accident deaths across the U.S.
Editor's note: all addressed locations in map are estimated. A digital map that was released in November by The Guardian revealing road casualties across the United States between 2001 and 2009 includes nine deaths in Dedham or on its border. Nearly 370,000 people died from vehicular accidents between 2001 and 2009, according to The Guardian, and ITO World, a group of transport data mapping professionals, put together a display of data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
