Blizzard Forecast for Dedham

We could see more than two feet of snow.

  If you've been talking about what a calm winter we've had, you've spoken too soon. Just a couple days after the 35th anniversary of the Blizzard of '78, New England is expected to get a blizzard this weekend. Norfolk County could see more than 2 feet of snow, the largest snow accumulation since 2010. The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for most of eastern Massachusetts including Dedham, calling it a "potential historic winter storm." We could see snow falling at 3-to-4 inches per hour and wind gusts of more thsan 20 miles per hour. The National Weather Service is warning that "white out conditions will be possible..making travel very dangerous." And they are asking residents to be prepared to alter any travel plans…

Snowfall Predictions Vary Largely for Friday Storm

It's going to snow this weekend, but how much will we get?

  The state and national news networks all agree on one thing, there is a storm coming to town for Friday and Saturday. What they don't agree on is how much snowfall you're going to see. As of 11 p.m. Tuesday night, estimates range from 3 inches to nearly 2 feet. The Weather Channel said the storm will likely peak Friday night around 10 p.m. They are focusing on two very different possibilities, one that could dump nearly 2 feet in the Boston area, the other showing less than 3 inches. Fox25 is keeping their estimate in the middle. "The heaviest snow band could produce over a foot of snow here.” ABC affiliate WCVB is updating their website as the storm gets closer. UPDATED: Earthquake Rattles Boston Area

An earthquake that centered in Maine had area residents feeling the effects.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake has been downgraded to a 4.0. In addition, Governor Deval Patrick has issued a statement on tonight's 'quake: Many Massachusetts residents felt the effects of an earthquake tonight. According to MEMA, which is monitoring events and has briefed me, the quake was centered some 30 miles outside of Portland, Maine. So far, we have no reports of injury or damage in Massachusetts. MEMA will continue to monitor the situation closely. Residents should use caution if they encounter any damage and take a minute to check in on neighbors, family and friends.
