Oakdale Elementary Celebrates 100th Day of School

Keeping a long-held tradition alive, students hold 100th Day festivities.

It was a brisk, sunny morning on Wednesday as the Oakdale Elementary School students began to line up at  the door before school. Each year, principal Holli Armstrong has her first and second grade students participate in the 100th day of school festivities. Leading up to the event, the Oakdale Elementary youngsters are encouraged to bring 100 "items" in to class from home. "Each year we see some amazing collections of 100 things, the students are very creative" said Ms. Armstrong. During their day in school, the children have the opportunity to share their items with the class and then they work together  sorting them out and "grouping" them in 2's, 5's, 10's. What a great way to have everyone's attention and share a valuable math lesson …
