Beloved Neighbor Kathleen Regina Taraschi Passes Away

Kathleen Regina Taraschi died Saturday in Danvers.

  Kathleen Regina (Kelly) Taraschi of Dedham, formerly of Hingham, passed gracefully and courageously from this life on April 7 at Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers. Kathy was born on April 4, 1950, in Dorchester to Walter J. Kelly and Margaret (Murphy) Kelly of Hingham.  After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Kingston, Kathy studied Theater and English at University of Rochester and studied voice at the Eastman School of Music, both in Rochester, N.Y.  She lived for several years in Philadelphia, Pa., before returning to Massachusetts and ultimately settling in Dedham. A dedicated runner, Kathy ran the Boston Marathon four times, as well as the Chicago Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon, and 10 others around the country. Kathy …

Friends Recall Bradbury, a Dedham 'Icon'

Bradbury gave decades to helping local veterans returning from war.

Two words classic of his generation sum up James Bradbury, better known as Big Jim: family and veterans. "He was bigger than life. He was an icon that Dedham will probably never see again," said Larry Rooney, a friend of Bradbury's. Friends recalled the 82-year-old Dedham resident who died Friday as someone who cared deeply about his large family and helping veterans when they returned home. Bradbury was born in 1929 in Dedham, attended the Ames School and Ames Junior High School before moving on to be a three-sport athlete at Dedham High School, graduating in 1947, friends recalled. Funeral Held for James Bradbury, Longtime Honor Guard Member

Bradbury, a Korean War veteran, was a former firefighter.

  James Bradbury, a former Dedham firefighter and a Korean War veteran, died Friday. He was 82. A funeral was held for him Tuesday at Saint Mary of the Assumption on High Street, and he was buried at Brookdale Cemetery. Bradbury graduated from Dedham High School in 1947 and is a member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Bradbury fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, Korea, according to his obituary, and served as a captain of the Dedham American Legion Post 18 Honor Guard. He was honored by the Dedham Board of Selectmen for his volunteer work as an Honor Guard member in December 2011. As a show of respect to Bradbury, flags at the American Legion and the Dedham Fire Department were flown at half-staff Tuesday. He is survived by…

James Rush, father of State Sen. Michael Rush, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 23. Former Chief Probation Officer for West Roxbury District Court and U.S. Navy Veteran.
