YOUR GUIDE: Events Announced For Dedham Square Grand Re-Opening

Dedham Square Circle will be hosting “Grand Re-Opening” in Dedham Square this weekend with a variety of events for residents of all ages.

 “After 18 months of construction in the Square, we are ready to celebrate,” said Dedham Square Circle Executive Director Amy Haelsen. “We also want to use the grand re-opening weekend as a way to say ‘thank you’ to all the loyal customers who supported the small businesses in the Square throughout the project.” 

The celebration will include dance classes, live music, free ice cream, and an art show and sales and deals, according Haelsen.

Dedham Square restaurants will be offering drink and menu specials and retail shops will be offering free raffles and giveaways while other businesses are hosting special events, Haelsen said in a statement.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., residents are invited to join merchants, town officials and friends of the to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony on High Street in front of the theatre.

  “We would be thrilled  if the entire community would take part in this momentous occasion and be included in the historic group photograph,” said Haelsen.

The following schedule is planned for the weekend celebration:

Friday, Oct. 4:

• Fred Astaire Dance Studio will host an Open House from 8-10:30 pm on Fri. Oct. 4.  Try out an intro.  class where you’ll learn the basics of some popular dances, followed by a Pro Show, social dancing, refreshments, hors d'oeuvres and giveaways! No partner necessary! This event is FREE and all are welcome. 
  

• Paradise Café – Live Music starting at 8:30 pm featuring Dan Masterson in concert. No cover charge.

Saturday, Oct. 5:

• Head to The Blue Bunny to help celebrate their 10th birthday!  Cake cutting at 11 am and lots of fun prizes and surprises throughout the day!

•  Dedham Square Circle will spring for FREE ice cream cones to the first 200 people at Ron’s Ice Cream starting at 2 pm.  There will be a balloon artist on hand to entertain you while you wait.

• Washtone Performing Arts will host a FREE Music Fun Time class from 12:30 to 1:30 pm for children ages 18 months to 7 years old.  Includes a hands-on craft activity of musical shakers. Children will be playing simple instruments and learning music rhythms.
  
  
• Fred Astaire Dance Studio will offer 3 FREE intro. group lessons from 12-3, every hour on the hour
  

• Preview Day for Dedham Open Studios

• Yoga Now will host an open house with Free mini-sessions beginning at 1pm and going every half hour until 4pm.  Drop in for all levels and types of yoga.  Visit www.yoga-now.com

• Paradise Café will have live music starting at 8:30 pm featuring Dan Masterson in concert. No cover charge.

Sunday, Oct. 6:

Dedham Open Studios 11 am – 5 pm. Over 85 local artists will showcase their original work throughout the Square including the Dedham Community House and First Church of Dedham.  On High Street in front of the theatre, the Dedham Square Circle is sponsoring live music and dance performances throughout the day including a traditional Indian dance troupe, African drummers, the Boston Percussion Group and solo artists.  

At 2 pm, everyone is invited to be part of the official ribbon cutting ceremony where we’ll take a large group photo. History in the making!
