Dedham Firefighters to Teach Safety at Free Open House

Free pizza and fire safety tips will be offered at this Saturday's open house to celebrate Fire Prevention Week.

The Dedham Fire Department will celebrate Fire Prevention Week with a free open house this Saturday for local families.

Firefighters are welcoming families to come down to their headquarters at 436 Washington Street and enjoy free Papa Ginos pizza and learn fire safety and prevention practices.

Participants will receive  safety tips such as “Stop, Drop and Roll,’ and how to prevent kitchen fires from starting, according to a the Dedham Fire Department.

“This event allows us to reach  out to the community and arm local families with safety tips and procedures,”  Dedham Chief William Spillane said in a written statement.   “Our open house allows families to get together  and better prepares them to react if a fire does start.”

The Dedham Papa Ginos will sponsor the open house, wich commemorates Fire Prevention Week , held from Oct. 6-12.   Children will be given free pizza and coloring sheets at the fun and informational event.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
