Dedham to Hold Medical Disposal Event

Welcome to "About Town," a new column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what the town's talking about. Check in often, because we will be updating often. And if you see or hear something we could use here, let us know.

Take a look through your medicine cabinet, see any unwanted medications? If you do then there's a perfect time and place to get rid of them. To help in the prevention of prescription drug abuse, possible poisoning, and environmental safety Dedham Board of Health, Dedham Police, Dedham Department of Public Works and Wardle Pharmacy have scheduled Saturday, Sept. 25, as Medication Disposal Day.

Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. head over to the Department of Public Works located at 55 River Street to dispose of your medications properly. This is open to all residents and is free of charge.

After School Program

For two-and-a-half years Paul Chaplin, a Mt. Vernon Street resident, has been going to Dedham Middle School to play basketball. Every Wednesday night, Chaplin and several other guys, whose ages range around late 30s to early 40s, head over to the school to get some good exercise and a little time away from the family. They say it's great because they get to meet, and get close to, parents of the children their kids go to school with. The guys say they look forward to Wednesdays and find themselves counting down the days to the next one.
