Lawlor Awarded Bronze Star for Afghanistan Service

The Dedham resident was deployed to the Middle East in August.

KABUL, Afghanistan - A Dedham resident received a Bronze Star Medal during an award ceremony on Camp Phoenix here Jan. 6.

Col. Andrew Lawlor has served as the command judge advocate for Task Force Yankee, 26th "Yankee" Brigade, Massachusetts Army National Guard, in Kabul since August 4, 2011.

Lawlor, who has been serving for 26 years, served as the principal legal advisor to the commanding general, subordinate commanders and staff of the 26th "Yankee" Brigade and as the senior supervisory attorney for the military lawyers and paralegals of the Office of the Command Judge Advocate for U.S. Forces in Kabul.

Lawlor is a partner for the firm Fedele and Murray, P.C. in Norwood.

Lawlor has received a lot of specialized training as a senior officer and has attended Senior Service College, Command & General Staff Officer College, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Mountain Warfare School, Officer Advanced Course, Officer Basic Course and Officer Candidate School.

Lawlor will complete his deployment next month and will reunite with his wife Roberta and children Maeve, 19 and Jackson 16, whom he thanks for supporting him. "You've been great," Lawlor said of his family. "Thanks for hanging in there. I'll see you soon."
