Matt is the son of Gail and Kevin Burns and has a twin brother, Chris. Matt attended , and he excelled at Dedham High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society.

Matt was injured in a diving accident on July 23. He is in good spirits, determined to work hard toward full recovery. He plans to attend Bryant University in January. Matt and his family are deeply grateful to the many friends and family who have supported them during this difficult time.

"We wanted to do something for Matt now, to show him how many people care for him and want to encourage him in his recovery," said Cam Clifford. "Dedham is a town full of good people. We all decided a Wiffle Ball tournament would be a fun way to bring the community together – kids and adults - to show our support."
