Blue Bunny Partners with the Animal Rescue League

One thing we love at The Blue Bunny Bookstore is partnering with local community organizations and non-profits. There is so much good work to be done, and our downtown storefront allows other groups a great space to get visibility for some very worthy projects.

One of our longest-standing and most loved partnerships has been with our good friends at the Dedham branch of the Animal Rescue League. For years, Beth Finn and her colleagues have supported our mutual missions of education and reaching young children by visiting the store for story times and special events with animal friends for the children to learn about, watch, and touch.

Our work with the ARL has taken another direction, as well, over the past two years, as we have agreed to foster and showcase pet rabbits looking for an adoptive home. With our well-known inclination toward all things “bunny”--it was a natural fit. The bunnies have been great, the kids have loved seeing them, and we are proud to say we have helped find homes for four rabbits already. We are currently looking for an adoptive home for “Lizzy” -- our latest rabbit resident.

Lizzy loves to be petted, has grown much more social over the summer while she has been with us, eagerly munches up lettuce and other greens, and loves to play with her jingle-bell ball (the first we’ve seen actually “play” with a ball). She likes attention, is litter-box trained, is generally well-mannered (although she enjoys being petted more than being held), and is oh, so pretty! Come visit her at The Blue Bunny and meet her for yourself. All adoptions, however, are arranged through the Animal Rescue League.
