Cult Classics Come to the Dedham Community Theatre

A look at the upcoming Hot Summer, Late Nights Movie Series at the DCT.

"Mark it zero!" A new late night, summer movie series is coming to the running every Friday throughout the month of August. These movie events kick off this Friday with Peter Jackson's gory, cult-horror classic, Dead Alive at 11:15 p.m. at the theatre on 580 High St.

"[The theatre] had done this program nine years ago and I remember seeing films as a guest," explains Sarah Reynolds the DCT Director and coordinator of the series. "When I came on as general manager last fall it was one of my goals to re-instate this program because I think there is definitely a crowd for this program, maybe bring in some younger people to the theatre."

Reynolds chose the lineup herself with info from staff and theatre goers.

The eight-week series premieres the cult classics listed below every Friday night at 11:15 p.m. Reynolds noted that for adult movie-goers, beer and wine will be served at the showings.

Here is the rundown of the movies that will be part of the Hot Summer, Late Nights Movie Series:

  • July 13 - Dead Alive
  • July 20 - Clerks
  • July 27 - This is Spinal Tap
  • August 3 - The Big Lebowski
  • August 10 - No movie selected yet
  • August 17 - Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • August 24 - Reservoir Dogs
  • August 31 - Wet Hot American Summer
