VIDEO: Dedham 10s Win 2 Games, Repeat as Cal Ripken District Champs

Billy Casey hits walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth to give Dedham the 10-9 win Saturday.

This time "Casey at the Bat" didn't strike out.

With the bases loaded with one out in the sixth and final inning, Dedham's Billy Casey roped a two-run single to right field to plate Ben Shumway for the championship-winning run and the 10-9 victory Saturday against Norton.

The Dedham 10s, who won the Cal Ripken District 4 title as 9-year-olds, repeated and will advance to the state tournament next weekend in Revere.

The 10s entered Saturday needing to beat Norton twice after Dedham dropped the first game of the double-elimination tournament earlier in the week. Manager Andy Shumway's bunch faced five win-or-go-home games this week.

Dedham cruised to a 10-0 victory in game one on Saturday as starting pitcher Alex Cherry fanned eight batters, gave up just one hit and earned the win in three innings of work.

In game two, Cherry crushed waist-high pitches to dead center field in consecutive at-bats for a pair of home runs.

Shawn Nosky notched the victory in game two. He pitched two innings in relief and struck out 4.

Dedham will face Westford at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Field in Revere.
