Ursuline Hockey Advances in MIAA Playoffs
The Bears will move on to the quarterfinals on Sunday.
The hockey team knocked off three-seeded Medfield High School 3-2 in overtime Thursday to advance to the MIAA Division 2 South quarterfinals.
Ursuline Academy (10-7-4) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period when Christyn Karol beat MHS goaltender Mimi Borkan at the 14:51 mark and took a 2-0 lead early in the second, when Karol netted her second goal of the game just a over a minute into the period.
Medfield (14-3-4) answered with two goals of its own in the second. Amanda Cronin netted a goal at the 5:42 mark, assisted by Julia Redden and freshman Ally Slowe tied the game with a tally at the 13:52 mark. The game went into overtime, and at 11:28 in the extra period, Emily Sullivan netted the game-winner, propelling the Bears into the MIAA D2 South Sectional quarterfinals where they will face-off against Concord-Carlise at 12:01 p.m. in Foxboro Sunday. Ursuline is the 14th seed in the tournament.
