Savi Breaks Soccer Scoring Mark in Blowout Win

Dedham senior Jenna Savi tallied five points Tuesday as she eclipsed Patrice Vettori's record.

senior Jenna Savi broke the school's soccer scoring record - boy's or girl's - Tuesday afternoon as she registered four goals and an assist in a 5-1 win against Brookline.

The five-point game comes on the heels of a four-point performance Saturday against Norwood giving Savi 125 points for her career - three more than 2010 graduate Patrice Vettori, coach Don Savi said.

The Marauders jumped on Brookline early, going up 4-1 20 minutes into the game.

Senior Sarah Warjas scored Dedham's other goal against Brookline.

On Saturday, Dedham played their first game on the turf field at DHS and beat rival Norwood 5-0. Emily Hill and Kelly Quinn added goals for the Marauders, who scored all five goals in the first 25 minutes of the game, coach Don Savi said.

Dedham improves to 12-3-2 on the season and will travel to Natick on Thursday. They'll close out with Walpole and Milton.

Dedham Boy's Soccer Fights, But Falls to Brookline

The Dedham boy's soccer defense held Brookline at bay for more than 60 minutes, but a second-half transition goal that popped over the head of Dedham goalie Ben Walsh proved to be the winner for Brookline.

The 1-0 loss drops Dedham to 1-13 on the season, and Brookline improves to 7-4-2.

Defenders Mack Farrell and Tim Heisler helped to repel several attacks, and Walsh made numerous diving and leaping stops for Dedham.

But Brookline's defense, which hasn't given up a goal in three straight games now, served as a stone wall to offensive pushes by the Marauders.

Dedham will host Natick on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at DHS.

Field Hockey Escapes Brookline With Win

Sophomore Colleen Downing scored off a corner in the first half Tuesday to give the Marauders a 1-0 win on the road against Brookline, giving Dedham an 8-5-1 record.

Jamie Carty earned the shutout in net with four saves.

Dedham fell to undefeated Canton 2-1 on Saturday, with Paige Keefe scoring the lone goal for the Marauders.

Erin MacDonald's squad will host Natick on Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at Dedham High School.
