James Joyce Ramble Returning to Dedham April 27

The event will begin with a two-wave start at the Endicott Estate.

Less than a week after runners from across the globe complete the Boston Marathon, Dedham will open its streets once again for the annual James Joyce Ramble 10K Road Race

The event, now in its 31st year, will kick off at 11 a.m. of Sunday, April 27. Interested runners can still register for the event online until Wednesday, April 23, of on Saturday before race day. 

The race will begin with a two-wave start, with runners participating in the USATF National Masters Championship beginning there minutes in front of the main event runners, according to event organizers.

The race will begin at 11 a.m. on East Street, just a block south of the Endicott Estate at Boulevard Street. 

Parking will be available for early arrivals on the Endicott Estate fairgrounds, and on-street parking will be available at Mount Vernon Street near Dedham High School and Dedham Middle Schools.

Due to security, there will be no bag check-in at the event; runners are encouraged to have family members or friends hold onto personal items or to leave them in their vehicles. 

Those looking to purchase alcohol at the event will need to provide proof of legal age via a photo ID. 

Early bib pickup will take place at the following times and locations:

Friday, April 25
12-7 p.m.
City Sports at Legacy Place in Dedham

Saturday, April 26
12-6 p.m.
Endicott Estate in Dedham

North Star Ramble Children's Race

Prior to the Ramble, officials will hold the annual North Star Children's Ramble, a literary-themed sporting event for kids ages 4-12 and their families. 

There event includes age-specific races ranging from the 50 yard dash to 500 yard dash, this year will include a new kickoff race, The Dedham Family Mile.

North Star Children's Ramble Schedule

  • 8 a.m. Pre-Race Free Registration starts
  • 8:30 a.m. National Anthem on electric guitar by Steve Marchena
  • 8:45 a.m. Dedham Family Mile - 1 mile run all ages until 9:15AM
  • 9:30 a.m. 4 and under race - 50 yd dash
  • 9:45 a.m. ages 5 & 6 race - 50 yd dash 
  • 10 a.m. ages 7 & 8 - 100 yd dash 
  • 10:10 a.m. age 9 & 10 
  • 10:20 a.m. ages 11 & 12
