DHS Girl's Hockey Clinches Playoff Berth

Dedham faces Brookline and rival Norwood this week.

The girl's hockey team is heading to the playoffs following a commanding 5-2 win Saturday against Newton North.

The Marauders poured 32 shots on net and Dedham goalies Emily Mosca and Jamie Carty combined for 16 saves on 18 shots for the win.

Freshman Sam Girard, the team's leading scorer, netted a pair of goals, and Tara Celata scored one and added an assist.

With the win, Dedham improved to 10-4 on the year and will travel to play Brookline on Wednesday before hosting rival Norwood at on Saturday evening.

Norwood earned a victory and ended Dedham's hopes for an undefeated season with a 4-2 win on Jan. 7.
