Dedham's Lydia Cassidy was a standout defender for the Grove City College (PA.) women's soccer team. The junior started 21 of 22 games as the Wolverines went 16-4-2 overall and 7-2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Grove City lost to Messiah, 3-0, in the NCAA Division 3 Championships to end their season.

For the week of Oct. 27, she was named as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division 3 South Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Caissy’s defensive work helped Grove City post two shutouts in league play last week. Saturday, she helped hold Westminster without a shot on goal in a 4-0 triumph. Her free kick in the 28th minute resulted in an own goal that put the Wolverines on top, 1-0.

As a freshman, Cassidy started 21 games, finishing with a goal and two assists for three points, while in her sophomore, she started 20 games with two goals and assists for five points.

She is majoring in accounting and finance.
