Dedham Hires 2 New Fall Coaches

Marauder athletes will have new coaches for field hockey and girls cross country.

Come the fall, two teams will have new faces leading them as announced the hiring of new coaches for cross country and field hockey.

for the field hockey team, they'll turn to DHS alum Erin MacDonald to take the reins from Leigh Shea

MacDonald played four years as a Marauder, graduating in 2004, before playing field hockey at Worcester State.

"I hope to bring back some of the old traditions, as well as start some new ones," MacDonald said. "I want to challenge these girls and be challenged by them as well. I’m very excited to be a part of the future of this program."

The girls cross country team also will have a change at the top.

Liz Vail, a DHS psychologist, will take the helm beginning in September. Vail ran cross country in college, and said she continues to run marathons and other races competitively. 

"I am looking forward to helping the team understand the elements of good, healthy running, but more importantly getting to know the girls and helping them meet their goals," Vail said.
