Boudrow Comes Through: Dedham Baseball Forces Game 3

Suspended South Shore Babe Ruth World Series game goes to Dedham 6-4 in 12 innings

The South Shore Babe Ruth World Series took an unexpected turn Wednesday night in South Boston at King Field. Where Dedham, which was playing the remainder of a suspended Game 2 from Monday night, scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning to win 6-4 over South Boston, forcing a Game three in Dedham Thursday night at .

The game was originally halted with two outs in the 10th Monday, with Dedham at the plate in a 3-3 tie. The umpires stated that they couldn’t see the ball due to darkness and play was stopped and rescheduled for Tuesday night.

Tuesday night, with a heavy thunderstorm looming, umpires decided to push the game to Wednesday evening, forcing coach Kevin Hampe’s squad to ponder their fate one more night.

Hampe slated Kevin Boudrow to start the suspended game two, and said, “We are confident in Kevin Boudrow, he has pitched well this year and we will see what he can do.”

All Boudrow did was knock in the winning runs and pitch three innings of near-scoreless ball to give his team the win and a chance of winning the series.

With one out in the 12th, Boudrow slapped a bases clearing double for the comfortable 6-3 lead. But as was the case both and night, South Boston looked to come back with their backs against the wall.

Boudrow, despite getting a fly out to Mike Sabatino, quickly found himself in trouble in the 12th, as South Boston was able to load the bases. Boudrow even walked in a run and put the winning run on first with two outs.

However, Boudrow got the last South Boston hitter to pop up to Jason Riley at shortstop to end the threat and force the decisive game three Thursday in Dedham.

It is not clear whom Hampe will send to the hill, but look for possibly a collective effort on the mound to get the job done against South Boston.
