Town of Dedham Finalist for Best Community for Young People

If Dedham is selected as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People, the town will receive a trophy, town signage, and a $2,500 award.

Dedham has been selected as a finalist for one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People award.

The (DYC) submitted an application in May of this year.  The application highlighted the efforts of the Dedham Youth Commission, along with the Dedham School Department, Dedham Parks & Recreation, and other organizations that have helped the youth in Dedham.

The winners will be announced at a live awards show/webcast on September 12 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. And the town will be hosting a "live watch" party at on that date.

Over 30 middle school students who attended this summer’s College Bound Program, along with school personnel, Dedham Town Administrator William Keegan, and DYC staff will be watching the event.

If you would like to attend this event, please RSVP to Robert Blaney at  rblaney@dedham-ma.gov.  Space is limited. If Dedham is awarded this recognition, the Youth Commission will hold a public day of celebration in the very near future, according to Blaney.

Town Administrator, William Keegan, Principal Gately, and the staff of DYC will also be addressing the students after the awards ceremony.

This national award is being sponsored by America’s Promise Alliance and ING.
