The Retirement Puzzle: Conversations for a Successful Transition

Dr. Jennifer Brinckerhoff, Hebrew SeniorLife Geriatrician, will present “Personal Growth Through Transition,” where she will share advice on enlightening and empowering personal growth to help seniors live their years to the fullest. The second session, “The Retirement Puzzle: Conversations for a Successful Transition,” will be led by Roberta K. Taylor, RNCS, M.Ed.  Taylor will teach attendees about the important conversations they need to have with their partner, children, parents and friends to successfully plan for “what’s next.”

2 p.m. at Orchard Cove, One Del Pond Drive, Canton, Mass. 

Adam Shamus, senior real estate specialist at William Raveis Real Estate, will lead the first session, “Selling Your Home in Today’s Market,” sharing tips on successfully selling your home in today’s market and the latest intelligence on the local real estate market. In the next session, “Downsizing Your Home & Life,” Joan Roover, MSW JD, of  A Thoughtful Move, LLC, will teach attendees what they should be thinking about when they evaluate a move and steps to reduce the stress of a major move.  Finally, at the Art & Antique Appraisals session, attendees are invited to bring one hand-held item for appraisal to learn more about the item’s provenance and estimated value. Appraisals will be conducted by Barbara Ann Dwyer, CAGA Certified Appraiser from Room Service, and Michael and Nancy Coyle, CAGA Certified Appraisers from Coyle’s Auction Gallery.

The College of Retirement Living is sponsored by the independent living communities of Hebrew SeniorLife: NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham, and Orchard Cove in Canton. Both campuses offer a variety of living options that enable active seniors to select the community that best meets their needs and reflects their individual personalities, preferences and lifestyle.

Tickets and Availability

The cost to attend both days of sessions is $25, which includes the appraisal of one hand-held item during the November 10 class.  Participants are invited to join the event speakers at a reception after each event.  Tickets to individual events are not available.  Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.hslindependentliving.org, or by calling (781) 234-9029, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Visa and MasterCard accepted.  Purchased tickets will be held at “will call” on the day of the event. All seating is first come, first served.
