"The second year of a contract extension [2013-2014] should be the year you plan to process for a search, select a vendor to conduct a search, and begin the process for a smooth transition," Doe wrote in a letter obtained by Dedham Patch.

Doe's benefits include health insurance, retirement account payments and legal fees for "actions occurring within the scope of her official duties" during her tenure and after tenure as superintendent.

Committee chairman Kevin Coughlin said at the meeting that only the term of the contract changed from her old deal to the new one.
