Dedham Music Leaders Help Students Shine

A look at the many hands that help students learn music.

Now that the holiday season is behind us and all Dedham schools have had the opportunity to showcase the talents of their students, we decided to take a look behind the scenes of the music program offered to our students here in Dedham.

Under the direction of the Dedham School of Music and it's executive director, Gabriella Sanna, Scott Abrahamson (Director of Fine Arts K-12) and the Dedham Public Schools have introduced both band and stringed instruments into our public schools. Each of the recent holiday school
concerts have included performances by students who have enrolled in their school's music classes. The believes that "performance" is an important component of music instruction and that it helps build the self-confidence needed to keep the children
motivated and inspired.

Director Scott Abrahamson is a classically trained trumpeter and has performed extensively throughout New England, with shows in Canada and Europe. He has enjoyed a long tenure as a successful middle and high schools band director.
