Update: Dedham High School Hazing Scandal

According to reports it's possible- but not confirmed- that a couple of students were suspended.

Some Dedham High School football players are in trouble for a hazing incident that took place on Friday.

According to reports, High School Football Coach, David Flynn was on of the first to discover this and is disgusted about what happened.  But he is hoping that this never happens again.

By federal and state laws, school employees are not allowed to comment on a student that is under investigation.

However, Superintendent June Doe did issue a statement about the issue.  She didn't mention any details about what happened. But believes that the issue needs to be addressed.

"The Dedham Public Schools and all the administrators are committed to maintaining an atmosphere that is free from bullying and hazing for all students" she wrote.  "We will continue to enforce our policies and protect our students".

Dedham Police wouldn't comment, but they did say that they are investigating the incident in conjunction with the school.  And at this time the investigation is "on-going."

A crime is a crime. Why are they covering this up? What are we teaching our kids? Anyone who helps sweep this under the rug should be ashamed of themselves.

Nobody's covering anything up, perhaps a better understanding of the law and privacy would help you to understand what's going on.

I don't take much stock in June Doe. She is not capable to be in her current position. My son attended Dedham Schools and Ms. Doe did not allowed him to go on a field trip, that I was willing to drive him and chaperone, because he was in a wheelchair. That is the type of person you have leading your Dedham Public Schools.

My daughters both attend the Dedham Public Schools and I couldn't be happier with their experiences. Having worked in education, I've met and worked with quite a few superintendents and director-level folks, and June is one of the more capable people I know of. I'm sorry you had one terrible experience with Ms. Doe (and I'm going to go out on a limb and say your summary is quite an oversimplification of what happened), but in my mind that does not outweigh the many advances the system has made under her tenure. I'd also like to know what your qualifications are to evaluate that she is "not capable" to be in her position, please enlighten me to your intimate knowledge of her daily activities.
