Boston Ballet Comes to Oakdale Elementary

The Oakdale PTO sponsored the event.

Thanks to the generosity of the Oakdale Elementary PTO, students at the school were treated to an enrichment assembly recently by the Boston Ballet School. Back in 1953, E. Virginia Williams founded the school, 10 years before establishing the world famous Boston Ballet Company. Ms. Williams had a dream, to create the highest quality dance school in the country.

Through rigorous training and performance, the pre-professional program of the Boston Ballet School promotes excellence in ballet, along with dance education, to inspire each student. The Boston Ballet School is now the largest school in North America, with over 1,600 students enrolled from all over the world.

For their performance at the Oakdale School, the dancers were led by instructor Igor Burlak. Mr. Burlak has performed as a dancer in ballets across the country and has choreographed many performances. At the end of their hour-long performance, the dancers mingled with the Oakdale students and had a great question and answer period. After graduation, many of these dancers move on and perform in ballets across the globe.
