Traffic At Dedham School Considered Tremendous Issue

Do you think traffic is a major concern at the new Avery School?

The traffic flow at Avery School was recently addressed at a Dedham Planning Board meeting last month.

School Resource officer Ronald Pucci explained that the traffic, with exception to the school busses, is not allowed to enter from Whiting Street and can only enter and exit the new elementary school from High Street, which causes “tremendous traffic issues.”

Pucci called the traffic flow dangerous and unsafe and said it is nearly impossible to merge from Recreation Road onto High Street, according to meeting minutes.

Planning Board Chairman Michael Podolski wondered why the issue was not presented by the school committee member and hopes they will come before the board, according to meeting minutes.

Vice Chairman John Bethoney said property owners in the area need to make a proposal for the traffic issue to be changed.

Currently there is only blinking yellow lights and no crossing guard in the area.
