Avery Fifth Graders March On, Leave Groundbreaking Legacy [VIDEO]

Thirty-five Avery Elementary School students received diplomas Thursday.

The legacy of the class of 2011 will forever be marked by the image of a large piece of autographed steel rising through the air.

And that image will live on thanks to student Ross Dillon and his winning design of the 2011 Avery class banner.

The text of Ross' winning design simply says, "A Very Good Place to Build a Future."

Earlier this year, construction crews placed that final piece on the new Avery Elementary School, set to open next spring.

Teachers, principal Clare Sullivan and others celebrated the Avery class of 2011 as the final class to attend five full years in the current building.

They not only, but dug-in at the  last October.

With laughter, the class of 2011 watched a slideshow during the ceremony of field trips, field day and other highlights from the year.

Two students, Habib Rahman and Sarah Kassab, gave the student addresses.
