Athletic Facility at Veterans Field to Be Closed for up to Two Weeks

The School Building Rehabilitation Committee (SBRC) announced yesterday the Athletic Facility located at Veterans Field will be closed for a period of up to two weeks, depending on weather, so that repairs to the track surface may be completed.

The SBRC, working in conjunction with the architectural firm of Dore & Whittier and field consultants Warner –Larson, determined the track should be resurfaced and repainted, including new lane striping.

The repair work is fully within the outlined guarantee for the project and the town will incur no financial obligation.

It is fully anticipated that the work will be completed within the two week time frame, and that scheduled activities, including pre-season high school athletic practices will be conducted as planned and will be available to the community.
